I’m not a beer drinker but for those numerous folks out there who love hops – the drinking kind, jump up and down, Leinenkugel’s Beer Garden at Power Plant Live is celebrating its grand opening with 4 different events.
In celebration of its opening, Leinenkugel’s is hosting 4 consecutive Saturdays of Oktoberfest events from September 17 through October 8, including live music, contests and food and drink specials. A full list of events is below:
- September 17– “Miss Oktoberfest” Contest, Oompah Band & Dancers, Fish Fry, and Beer Pairings.
- September 24– Leinenkugel’s “Beer Games” including barrel races, stein races, keg carry relays, beer pong and “wiener dog” races for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
- October 1– Homebrew competition with $1,500 in cash and prizes. Proceeds to benefit the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
- October 8– Downtown Beer Festival, featuring sampling from over a dozen local and regional breweries. Attendees will be eligible to win a trip to the Leinenkugel’s Brewery in Chippewa Falls, WI.
Offering over 30 draft beers, 30 bottles and a menu ideal for sharing, Leinenkugel’s Beer Garden consists of a 2500 square feet steel and glass pavilion and 200 square feet of outdoor space, all located near the entrance of Power Plant Live!. In addition to an outdoor garden boasting a fireplace, rose bushes, up-lit trees and communal seating, the structure itself contains a retractable roof and sliding garage doors on three sides, creating a year-round open-air pavilion.
Notably, Leinenkugel’s offers self-serve draft tables where patrons where patrons will be able to pick their flavors and serve themselves… or even mix them, a practice unique to the Leinenkugel family of beers. In a nod to its newly-opened neighbor, the beer garden will feature a custom-made “Joe Squared” pizza on its specials menu, specifically made for Leinenkugel’s by Baltimore favorite and fellow Power Plant Live! restaurant, Joe Squared.
Leinenkugel’s, brewed in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, is the leading craft brewer in the upper Midwest. Year-round offerings include Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss, Sunset Wheat, Berry Weiss, Leinie’s Red, Creamy Dark, Original, Light, and Leinenkugel’s Classic Amber Lager. In addition to the Oktoberfest, Leinenkugel’s offers other limited-release seasonal beers including summer favorite Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy and Fireside Nut Brown.
