The Lehigh Valley IronPigs unveiled their opening-day roster for the 2014 season Sunday and while many of the moves were to be expected, some were certainly a shock.

As of now, the roster is as follows:

Starting Pitchers: Greg Smith, David Buchanan, Jon Pettibone, Barry Enright and Sean O’Sullivan.

Relievers: Luis Garcia, Phillipe Aumont, Sean Camp, Hector Neris, Mike Nesseth and Kyle Simon, Jeremy Horst, Cesar Jiminez.

Catchers: Koyie Hill and Cameron Rupp

Infield: Jim Murphy, Tyler Henson, Maikel Franco, Andres Blanco, Reid Brignac, Troy Hanzawa, Ronny Cedeno

Outfield: Leandro Castro, Tyson Gillies, Steve Susdorf, Clete Thomas

Disabled List: INF Brian Bixler, P Chris Bootcheck, OF Dave Sappelt, P Adam Morgan

Perhaps the biggest surprise was the release of longtime IronPigs first baseman Cody Overbeck. The 27-year-old had been a fixture at first base since 2011 but could never crack into the Philadelphia Phillies’ Major League roster.

Meanwhile, top third base prospect Maikel Franco makes the jump to Triple A after just half a season with the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils last year. Franco didn’t have a particularly strong camp for the Phils this spring, but it’s very possible the 21-year-old infielder could get a callup with a strong performance at Lehigh Valley.

Of the 25 players on the IronPigs’ roster, 15 were on the team in 2013.

The IronPigs open the season with a four-game series in Pawtucket against the Red Sox on Thursday, April 3. The home opener at Coca-Cola stadium is slated for Monday, April 7, at 5:05 p.m. against the Buffalo Bisons.
