While the spirit of St. Patrick's Day sweeps through Savannah some folks in Atlanta will be celebrating the birthday of one of the city's newest attraction. In 2012, Phipps Plaza in Buckhead welcomed LEGOLAND Discovery Center to its wide array of upscale stores and restaurants. This family attraction celebrates a tiny building block revered around the world. In fact, LEGO says children spend five billion hours each year playing with these brightly colored bricks.
In Atlanta, more than three million LEGO bricks bring the city to life in a way few attractions can. A mini version of this gleaming Southern city sprawls out in front of you in MINILAND. The model city comes complete with a mini Stone Mountain, Georgia Capitol, Aquarium and Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site. You will also find a few interactive treasures at the Georgia Dome and Turner Field.
Beyond MINILAND visitors will fly high with Merlin (the namesake of the company which runs LEGOLAND), watch LEGO characters come to life in a 4-D theater, and have a chance to play in the LEGO Fire Academy and Coast Guard Tower. There is also a center for the newer more girl oriented LEGO Friends.
