Chicago children ages 14 and under can enter the LEGO Store Mini Model Build Contest 2010 during the whole month of September for a chance for fame and cool LEGO prizes. This contest tests children’s building skills, imagination, and creativity.

LEGO Store Monthly Mini Model Build

Every first Tuesday of the month, kids ages 6 to 14 can visit their local LEGO Store at 5:00 p.m. to receive and build a free mini model themed to match that month. These cute mini models are not for sale and children can take them home to keep.

LEGO Store Mini Model Build Contest

Children who enter the LEGO Store Mini Model Build Contest will have a chance to design the mini model for the September 2011 build event. Using only 25 to 40 LEGO pieces, kids must design a mini model whose subject is something that represents September. For example, the winning entry for 2009 was a notepad and pencil, while the winning entry for 2010 is a boy wearing a school backpack.

To submit their original design to the contest, kids should bring a printed picture of it to their local LEGO Store and complete an entry form. Entries will be accepted from September 1 to September 30, 2010.

Along with winning the honor of having designed a LEGO mini model that will be assembled by kids across the nation, the winner will also receive a $100 LEGO Gift Card and a complete set of the 2010 mini models.

As one of the September LEGO Store events, staff will be on hand several days this month to help kids test out and learn how to use the Design By Me LEGO-building program at the Master Builder Bar, which can be used to enter the contest.
