Legislation lowering college tuition for all students passes

Gov. Rick Scott said he was pleased that HB 851 passed on May 2, lowering tuition for all Florida students. In a statement issued on May 2 from the Office of Governor Rick Scott, Governor Rick Scott was quoted as saying, “The Florida Legislature embraced fairness for all students today by taking action to lower the costs of higher education for every family in Florida. Students who have spent their childhood here in Florida deserve to qualify for the same in-state tuition,” said Scott.

Jose Fernandez, a student in Miami said, “I am glad this legislation passed. Now I have an opportunity to pursue a college degree,” said Fernandez.
