Legends President Alan Stein makes annual opening day guarantees

In what has become a bit of a tradition, Lexington Legends President/COO Alan Stein stepped up to the microphone at this afternoon's media luncheon and made not one but two guarantees for Thursday night's opener against Charleston.

With forecasted game time temperatures close to 70 degrees, Stein guaranteed it will be at least 60 degrees at Whitaker Bank Ballpark when the home plate umpire yells play ball. If not according, to Stein "every ticket will be turned into a rain check so that every fan here on opening day can come back, free of charge, to see another Legends game."

Stein, who boldly predicts an opening day victory for the Legends each and every year, once again put his trust in his ball club by agreeing to something he feels is far worse than shaving his head or eating cat food, both of which he has had to do after opening day defeats in years past.

"If we lose this game I'm gonna dress like (former University of Tennessee men's basketball coach) Bruce Pearl until we win," declared Stein. "And trust me, the first day when I wear that ugly orange sports coat, it will be disgusting. But the second night if we lose and I have to take off my shirt and paint myself orange, we will all have to shut down the Legends."

The Legends are scheduled to take the field for the first time this season at 7:05 on April 7. Among the expected sold out crowd who will be cheering on the home team, nobody will be rooting as hard as Stein. He made a heart-felt request to the players in attendance at the media luncheon.

"Fellas, let's make sure that we win that first game and keep the ugly orange away from Whitaker Bank Ballpark!"
