Legendary skateboarder Duane Peters arrested

Legendary skateboarder 'The Master of Disaster' Duane Peters and was arrested in Long Beach, California on Saturday February 8.2014 on suspicion of domestic violence. Peters now 52 years of age was arrested in the 4000 block of East 3rd Street according to Long Beach Police Sargent Megan Zabel.

Duane Peters has been a leader in the skate punk scene for years. His attitude and influence had a huge impact on skateboarding in the late seventies early eighties. Duane is credited with inventing the Indy Air and was the first skateboarder to successfully complete a loop in a full pipe. He won first place at the 1981 Skate City Whittier Pro-AM Vert contest and was named Transworld Skateboarding’s legend in 2003. As punk as he was,Duane was very progressive. Always pushing skating further. A great example of this is Duane's backside invert reverts in a pool.

Duane is not only a talented skateboarder but also an accomplished musician. He was lead singer of U.S. Bombs, from 1993 to 2000. He then formed a new band, Duane Peters and the Hunns. Later that band evolved into to Die Hunns. Peters is also the owner of Disaster Records and Indian Recordings record labels.

Duane was featured in the 2011 film 'The Dads - The Other F Word' by Andrea Blaugrund Nevins. He was also in the 2010 film 'Hostility Hotel.'

Duane continues to tour the United States and Europe attending various skateboard functions and performing with his newest band Duane Peters Gunfight. He resides in Long Beach and has two sons. Schuyler Dee Peters age 26, and Clash Thomas Peters who is 6. In 2007 his 20-year-old son Chess (Chelsea) Peters died in a tragic car accident. - Jason Chapman The National Skateboarding Examiner
