Legendary outdoor clothing store Filson opens in Aspen

C.C. Filson began outfitting miners during the Gold Rush in Alaska, and to this day his company remains a leading manufacturer of clothing and gear for discriminating outdoor enthusiasts. It is fitting, then, that the legendary company headquartered in Seattle, Washington maintain a presence in the mountain town of Aspen in the heart of the Rockies.

“There are few places in the world with a higher concentration of outdoor enthusiasts than Colorado, said Filson CEO Alan Kirk. "We look forward to being closer to our longtime customers in this state as well as the region’s many international guests.”

The classy, wood-paneled Aspen store is the first Filson retail location in the U.S. besides Seattle and Portland. The first international store opened last spring in London.

Aspen locals and tourists alike will love Filson's signature luggage and bags, warm outerwear, sporty apparel and distinctive accessories originally designed for sports like hunting, fly fishing and sport shooting. Colorado high country activities like horseback riding, four-wheeling and camping come to mind as well. Filson is known for highest quality and reliability.

Filson's 900-square-foot store is at 402 So. Hunter Street, right across the street from the gondola in Aspen.

Grand opening events, scheduled for December 12 and 19, will benefit Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), and Filson also will be a sponsor of ACES's Naturalist Nights programs for the 2014 winter season.
