Legendary DJ Casey Kasem has been reported missing. According to the New York Daily News, Monday, a Los Angeles Superior court judge ordered adult protective services and a court investigator to find out where Kasem is. The 82 year old suffers from advanced Parkinson's disease and is now unable to speak. He has been in various medical facilities chosen by his wife. Casey's children have filed a complaint that they have been unable to see their father, because they don't know which medical facility his care is taking place in. Daughter Kerri Kasem was granted temporary caretaker rights at Monday's hearing. An attorney appearing for Jean Kasem, Casey's wife, stated that he didn't know where the radio personality was, but that he had been removed from the country. Hearing this brought Casey's three children from a previous marriage in an uproar.
This is not the first time that Kasem's children have been unable to see their father. The children would like to have a say in their father's medical care. A previous case by daughter Julie Kasem was dismissed after she reached a settlement with her stepmother, but according to the proceedings in court Monday, the agreement has been breached.
Casey Kasem came to fame as a radio host and as the iconic host of American Top 40 for thirty nine years. He was also the voice of Shaggy on the cartoon "Scooby Doo." Monday's hearing gives his children justice, and the ability to find out about their father's care and whereabouts.
