According to ScienceFiction.com on Dec. 26, Lee Pace, known for his role as Thanduil in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and also future role in James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy", has nothing but accolades to be said about the Marvel film. The "Pushing Daisies" celebrity mentioned that Gunn told him to give it all he's got for the role of Ronan the Accuser.
“It was awesome! That movie’s going to kick ass! We’ve just knocked it out of the park, it’s going to be wild! I kept looking over at [director] James Gunn saying, ‘Is it too much? Am I over the top? Pull me back whenever you’re ready!’ And he was like, ‘More, more!’ He’s a true villain!”
Pace explained he was big into comics himself when he was younger, specifically "Silver Surfer", but he also expressed how "Guardians of the Galaxy" seems to delve deeper into the Marvel Universe. He also recalled the fact that most people weren't even familiar with the Iron Man character until it made its debut.
“I’m a very curious person, I don’t leave any stone unturned. I remember being interested in comics and I really liked Silver Surfer. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is a bit deeper into the Marvel Universe, which I think is to its advantage. ‘Iron Man’ was something that people were not super-familiar with when that movie first came out. I think people are certainly going to like this film and I certainly hope they do. It’s fun!”
Pace and other members of the cast seemed to be highly enthused about Gunn's success and even mentioned that Chris Pratt, who plays the role of Star Lord, will indeed have a promising future in Hollywood.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" releases on Aug. 1, 2014.
