If you're a fan of American Idol season nine winner, Lee DeWyze, chances are you've read at least one article that includes quotes from his buddy Brian Friedopfer who always had positive things to say about his friend during the competition.
Throughout DeWyze's run on Idol, Friedopfer was a staunch supporter, and when he saw his friend's dream realized in front of millions of people, he couldn't have been more proud.
Now that Friedopfer has helped DeWyze's dream come true, it's now his turn to reach for the stars, but he needs your help. Friedopfer would like to become the first MTV TJ, but in order to do that, he needs to be nominated. (Nominations can be done here until the 27th.)
The person who wins the MTV TJ competition gets a pretty sweet prize: a $100,000 salary along with access to various red carpet events and the chance to meet some of the hottest celebrities. (Can anyone else see Friedopfer interviewing DeWyze?)
In order to find out more about Brian Friedopfer, this writer posed some questions in order for people to get to know him better and understand what winning this competition would mean to him. Enjoy!
Q: Why do you want to win?
A: I feel like I've already sort of stepped into a similar role, and this would give me a better foundation. It would definitely be a better opportunity to bring more to the fans, which is really what's important. I think I can bring a different perspective to the entertainment world. I'd watch me!
Q: What would winning mean to you?
A: It would mean a huge step forward for me!! Things haven't been so easy for me lately. I'm currently unemployed and have been looking for work for 4 months now, and it's really hard out there. The economy is in really bad shape. This could be a fresh start for me -- a chance to show the world who I am!! I'm excited just thinking about it!
Q: Why are you the perfect nominee? What attracted you to this opportunity?
A: I think everyone has that one thing that they're really good at. For me, it's being social. I know it sounds silly, but I've always been that person that everyone knows. You know what I mean!? Haha! Seriously, though, I really think I was made for this job! I have a great network, and I genuinely care about people. What attracted me to this? What doesn't?? It's me in a nut shell!! (Everytime I say that, I think Austin Powers... Literally in a nut shell!!)
Q: If you win, what celebrity would you love to interview and why?
A: Oh wow... there are so many!! Is it really lame if I say Lee?? Haha! Probably Ryan Seacrest. I'd want to ask him face to face why he chose to dance with me in the middle of a live taping of American Idol!! Or maybe I could interview Mark Wahlberg. I'd definitely pull a mini SNL skit (Mark Wahlberg talks to animals). Hey, you're Mark Wahlberg! What's that all about? Haha IDK, as long as I can be funny and entertain people, I think I'd be happy!
Q: Have you told Lee about wanting to be nominated?
A: I sent him and Andrew both a text this morning telling them about it. I haven't heard back from Lee, though. He's really busy and has his own stuff to worry about. Andrew gave me a shout out through Twitter, though, which was awesome!
Q: How does he feel about it?
A: I haven't talked to him, but I can't imagine him being anything but happy for me. Lee's a really good guy and cares a lot about his friends. I know he wants me to be successful and if this is a means to do that, then I'm pretty sure he would be all for it!!
Q: Is there anything else that voters should know about you?
A: Um... sure!! I have all sorts of crazy shenanigans and antics that need to be publicized!! Oh, and also, I was in a movie when I was 12. I played a school duck in Losing Isaiah. I made $300 bucks and bought a remote control car. LOL.
