Led Zeppelin's album Celebration Day, which captures the band's first live performance since the death of the their drummer John Bonham, won in the category of Best Rock Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.

Bonham died of alcohol poisoning in 1980.

The historic reunion gig heard on the Grammy-winning album took place in 2007 at London's O2 Arena. The concert, which also featured other acts, was held in memory of late Atlantic Records mogul Ahmet Ertegun.

Despite Zeppelin's Grammy win, the band's song from the album, "Kashmir," was trumped in the category of Best Rock Performance by nominees Imagine Dragons.

With Zeppelin as a no-show, their Grammy win was accepted by Cindy Lauper, who served as host for the Grammy Pre-Telecast. Although the Pre-Telecast segment of the Grammys is not televised, it is streamed online on Grammy.com

The album was released by Swan Song/Atlantic Records.

This mark's the band's fifth Grammy Award.

Four of Led Zeppelin's albums have received Grammy Hall of Fame Awards.

Led Zeppelin is comprised of guitarist Jimmy Page, vocalist Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones. Bonham's son, Jason Bonham, filled in for his late father on the Celebration album.

The other nominees for Best Rock album were Black Sabbath for their studio reunion album 13, released by Vertigo/Republic and David Bowie's first album release in ten years, the prolific The Next Day on Columbia Records.

Also nominated in the category of Best Rock album was the album Mechanical Bull by rockers Kings Of Leon. It was released by RCA Records.

Further competition in the category included The Queens Of The Stone Age release Like Clockwork on the Matador label, and Psychedelic Pill, recorded by Neil Young and Crazy Horse on Reprise/Warner.
