Lecrae talks first Grammy Award win, plans for new album (Photos)

Gospel and hip-hop recording artist Lecrae won his first Grammy award Sunday night.

Picking up Best Gospel Album, during the pre-telecast portion of the celebration of music, Lecrae said the award will definitely give him some credibility going forward.

"My ambition was just to make honest music. I was just very honest about my spirituality," Lecrae said, accepting his award for "Gravity." "I think this definitely gives some credibility to the craft."

Look forward, Lecrae has plans to not only tour, but work on a follow up to "Gravity."

"I'm very active. I co-wrote the album. I'm very involved from the production to the mixing to the roll out. It just really becomes a baby. So we're very excited at Reach Records about this Grammy," said Lecrae. "I plan to hit the road and do a college tour this Spring. After that it's back to the studio."

As previously reported, Lecrae is one of four winners that earned awards in gospel related categories.

Gospel singing duo Mary Mary won an award for the hit single "Go Get It" in the category of Best Gospel Song (see winners list).

The 55th Annual Grammy Award pre-telecast ceremony was held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live venue on Sunday, Feb. 10. The televised portion aired on CBS from the Staples Center.
