It'll be just like old times for the Miami Heat at the All-Star Game later this month in Orlando.
With LeBron James and Dwyane Wade already voted by the fans to be starters in the exhibition, Chris Bosh learned Wednesday that he will join his Heat teammates as an All-Star reserve. It will be the 7th straight All-Star appearance for the 27-year-old Bosh.
Bosh, who finished 5th among Eastern Conference forwards in the fan voting, joins Roy Hibbert, Paul Pierce, Luol Deng, Andre Iguodala, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson on the East bench.
Bosh is averaging 19.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. The 6-foot-10 forward has been asked to carry a larger load on some nights, with injuries sidelining Wade for nine games this season.
The three All-Stars are the most selected from any one team this season. The Lakers (Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum), Clippers (Blake Griffin and Chris Paul), Thunder (Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook) and Bulls (Deng and Derrick Rose) each will send two All-Stars to Orlando.
Among the notables that Bosh beat out for a roster spot are Kevin Garnett, who had made the previous 12 All-Star games, Amare Stoudemire, a six-time All-Star, and Josh Smith, who has excelled across the board for the Atlanta Hawks.
The All-Star game is slated for Sunday, Feb. 26.
