Two time NBA champion and multiple MVP honoree LeBron James proposed to Savannah Brinson on New Years Eve leading into 2012. Brinson's ring was gorgeous. A large diamond on an understated setting adorned her finger for well over a year. Uptown Magazine reported today that James and Brinson tied the knot in a California wedding this weekend.
The couple spent a long tedious time planning their wedding, with both posting pictures of their lead up to the big day: September 14, 2013. Earlier this month the two vacationed in France. James and Brinson have been together since their days as high school students in Akron, Ohio and have two sons, LeBron James Jr., Bryce Maximus James.
According to AP the wedding was top secret with no one allowed to bring in phones or cameras:
About 200 guests were present for the ceremony, said one of the people, both of whom spoke on condition of anonymity because the wedding was private and the couple had yet to release any details. The ceremony was the highlight of a three-day celebration that will conclude with a brunch on Sunday.
Although celebrities tend to share their lives with fans in grand ways, it is nice to see this couple starting out their marriage in a more private manner. No matter how much people want to know about the wedding, and soon the relationship, the marriage is about James, his wife, and his family.
In order to maintain the relationship that they've had, they should probably continue to protect it. There is nothing more tantalizing to some people than seeing the negative side of the relationships of other people. In some odd way it makes them feel better about their own situations.
The pressure this couple faces will be typical of any married couple. However, being in the spotlight merely exacerbates those issues. Because of James's profession he may have to spend more time away from his wife, but hopefully he will find ways to make sure they stay connected more now than ever.
There will be a lot of naysayers to their union out of envy and some out of misplaced concern. Hopefully the two will lean on each other and their faith to strengthen their marriage, forsaking all others.
Marriage requires so much more than being in love. It requires communication, faith, love, respect and selflessness. James and Brinson have already been together for a long time, marriage will however change the dynamics of their bond. The couple has formed friendships with other married couples including North Carolina's own Chris Paul and his wife Jada.
