LeBron James looking forward to partnership with Johnny Manziel

If any athlete knows how to handle the hype associated with entering a professional sports league, it is LeBron James. According to a report by Fox Sports on Jan. 9, the Miami Heat star says he is looking forward to working with Johnny Manziel, who recently declared his eligibility for the NFL Draft.

There will be a lot of hype surrounding the former Heisman Trophy winner no matter which team selects him. A team seeking a quarterback will focus on Manziel’s on the field skill, but also how he represents himself off the field. In two years at Texas A&M, Manziel has had his share of scrutiny about his behavior away from the game. Choosing the proper representation was key for Manziel and in choosing the same marketing team as James, the two athletes will form a business relationship.

LeBron James spoke about the possible partnership. He told the Associated Press:

“When the opportunity was brought to me, I basically jut told him, if he’s willing to listen, if he’s willing to take my advice, then I’m willing to give it and he was all for it.”

James has already been a mentor to Manziel and the two have already seemed to form a friendship. LeBron spoke about how he has reached out to the young quarterback.

“Throughout this whole season I would text him weekly before the games, after the games. And I didn’t know it would lead to obviously us being together now as far as business, but I was happy to help him.”

The growth and maturity LeBron James has experienced can only be good for a competitive athlete like Johnny Manziel who will definitely have to answer for his past off-field antics as well as any future off-field antics. It will be a growing up process for Manziel; a process that whichever team drafts him will have to have patience with.
