LeBron James leads first round of 2014 All-Star vote returns

The first batch of voting returns for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game are in and the reigning two-time MVP is at the top of the heap. Miami Heat forward LeBron James leads all vote-getters with 609,336 votes from NBA fans throughout the world. James is joined in the Eastern Conference by Indiana Pacers forward Paul George (489,335 votes), New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony (424,211), Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving (365,712), and his Miami Heat teammate, Dwyane Wade (396, 279).

In the Western Conference Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant leads the pack with 607,407 votes. Joining Durant is Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard (295,120), the Los Angeles Clippers’ Blake Griffin (292,925) and Chris Paul (393,313), and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (501,215).

Bryant received the third most votes of any player, which is rather dubious considering he’s only played in two games this season. Bryant is clearly a fan favorite despite his health for all he’s done in his Hall of Fame career.

The NBA has partnered with various social media outlets to allow fans to get involved with All-Star Game festivities. Fans can vote on Instagram by posting an original photo, using the hashtag #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name in the photo caption. Twitter users can vote for 10 different players each day by tweeting the player’s first and last name, along with #NBABallot. Facebook allows fans to participate by commenting on NBA All-Star Facebook pages below each post with #NBABallot and the player’s first and last name. Fans can also vote daily by texting up to ten player’s last names to MYNBA (69622) or by voting on NBA.com.

The 2014 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 16 live on TNT from the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.
