In the words of Stephen A. Smith, LeBron James is coming. The best player in the game has MVP honors in his sight and on Monday night he proved it with the best game of his life. As the Associated Press reports on March 4, King James scores a career high 61 points as the Heat thumped the Charlotte Bobcats, 124-107.

James led the Miami Heat to their eight straight win as the two-time defending champions look like they are locked in to three-peating. Without DeWayne Wade, James put the team on his shoulders and simply soared past anyone who tried to guard him. He made 22 of 33 shots from the field and more impressively he made his first eight 3-point attempts. King James was in a zone.

“The man above has given me some unbelievable abilities to play the game of basketball,” James said after the game. “I just try to take advantage of it every night. I got the trust of my teammates and my coaching staff to go in there and let it go.”

With the 61 points, James topped his previous career high of 56 points while with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored the majority of the points in the second half as he only had 24 points by halftime.

LeBron James seemed to have become inspired and challenged by the play of Kevin Durant who was the favorite to win MVP. James is sending a message that he is still the best player in the game.

The 61 points scored by LeBron is a franchise record for the Heat. Glen Rice previously held the record with 56 points scored against the Orlando Magic back in 1995.
