Upper Deck revealed on their Instagram page on Thursday that LeBron James has signed the Nike LeBron 10 that he wore in tribute of the victims of the Newtown school shooting back in December. The shoes - which had "Newtown, CT" written all over during the game - are to be auctioned off later this spring with proceeds to go the families that were affected by the tragedy.
Affected greatly by the news of the shooting, James, along with other members of the Miami Heat, brought out their children to pay their respects during the pregame introductions. James and the Heat would go on to the beat the Washington Wizards in a rout, but that was the least on the mind of the every player on the court that night. James expressed his frustrations on Twitter that day, wondering out loud how something like this could happen, especially since he has two children of his own.
Longtime memorabilia partners since 2003, all James signed memorabilia goes through the Upper Deck authentication process to ensure reliability and peace of mind for whomever wins the item. No date has been set for the auction.
