Leaves in the North Ga. Mountains: A great weekend ride

The peak time for looking at leaves in the North Georgia Mountains is late October thru early November. This past weekend my lady friend and I took a ride up to Suches Ga. to take a look and see how far along the leaves are in regard to changing colors. We had a fantastic ride and the colors are beautiful but not yet in their peak. We ventured to guess that this weekend 10/28-29 may be the peak if not next weekend Nov 5th. Either way, the next two weekends are gonna be prime for some real leaf lookin.

One of the best routes a rider can take is up through Dahlonega square. Dahlonega has really become a favorite for bikers in terms of a great destination and a great stop on the way to the mountains. By the way...if you love good Italian food check out Piazza`s restaurant--fantastic Italian food at an affordable price.

I want to remind my brothers and sisters in the wind of the dangers we face on a bike in those curves. While I was on my way up to “Woody Gap” I encountered a wreck and had to turn around. The cars and sport bikes are known to cross the line in the blind curves and rumor has it that the locals throw pea gravel in the curves up there--just sayin.

I wanted to provide you all with a slide show of some of the pictures we took while riding through the area--I hope you enjoy them.

Also, I thought I would provide you with a link t get information about Fall Foliage Reports and Watches. This site “www.georgiamountains.org” has lots of information and phone numbers to call concerning the leaves changing.

Until next time--Chaps
