It was a standing room only crowd on Saturday at the Lincoln Center stage. Models strutted down the runway embroidered to the hilt. I had a chance to ask designer Jill Stuart about her inspiration. “I was on vacation and started wondering, what would a rock stars girlfriend wear? This became the inspiration for my spring line - Rock Stars Girlfriends on Holiday. It is beachy chic.”
The catwalk was flush with lots of micro-mini’s, lace and embroidery. And, of course, what self respecting rockers girlfriend would go on holiday without some leather to whip out. Stuart incorporated shocks of leather throughout her edgy, yet feminine collection. Her color palette was monochromatic with accents of indigo.
Another passion of Stuart’s is vintage clothing, which is definitely reflected in this line, as well. She says she hopes women feel sexy and beautiful in her stuff.
Trending for Spring 2014: very short, and very cool girl look! Hey, didn’t we just see that on the runway?
What do you think of her rock-centric collection? Will you be dressing like a rock stars girlfriend this spring? I can already hear the old Stevie Nicks & Don Henley ‘80s hit, “Leather and Lace” getting downloaded on iTunes.
Rock on, Jill.
