Folks are inundated by decorating and furnishing fads often becoming unsure what would be best for their home. Many feel leather is the only way to go in the family room, thinking that leather is the only upholstery that will take a beating.
It is important to understand leather before you head out on your shopping adventure.
Leather is not just for the bachelor pad, and vice versa.
- Men should know that there are other options besides leather.
Leather comes in an array of colors.
- If you choose leather, be exciting, you do not have to go with black or brown. Check out red, green, purple, and a host of colors.
- If you want black consider trim in a red for your own unique look.
Leather can be stiff or comfy.
- Make sure you are aware of the comfort level of the piece you are purchasing.
Versatile leather can be mixed with other fabrics creating unique furnishings.
You do not need to have a complete room of matching leather pieces. It is easy to compromise. If you want fabric and your partner wants leather. Purchase a leather chair for the other’s happiness while you can be comfortable with your sofa upholstered in fabric. A sofa base can be upholstered in leather with the seat cushions upholstered in a fabric. Leather furniture can look pretty with coordinating fabric accent pillows.
Care of the leather furnishings will keep them looking beautiful.
Leather may be more expensive so be proactive and give your leather the appropriate care. With the proper treatment leather can be very durable and long lasting. Leather furniture needs to be dusted and should be conditioned a couple of times a year to be kept from drying. Wipe any spills that occur as soon as they happen. If you have a busy abode with children, pets, and visitors you might need to use a special sealant on your leather for extra protection. Flip and fluff the cushions once a week.
Be prepared for your leather furnishings to develop their own character with wear; the patina and texture will change, as they do with your worn in leather shoes. Sink into the comfy seating, be comfortable in your abode and never be afraid to dance!
