Learning to Love this Valentine's Day

The Dharamachakra Buddhist Center of New Jersey frequently offers workshops in and around the Millburn area, which aim to help participants feel at peace with their lives through meditation and education.

On Saturday, February 18th Peter Kurczynski will hold a one day meditation course on “Learning to Love”. Through his extensive knowledge of Buddhist teachings and meditation Peter hopes he can bring a sense of contentment, enlightenment and comfort to his students, many of which are regulars. The courses are a wonderful way to meet like minded individuals, find an outlet for the stresses of modern life, and learn new ways to view and approach the problems you may confront.

As their website explains, resident teacher Peter Kurczynski “has been practicing Buddhism in formal study programs of the New Kadampa Tradition for over ten years. His teachings are practical and easy to apply in everyday life. Peter has participated in numerous meditation retreats, and regularly attends international festivals of Kadampa Buddhism. He has a doctorate in physics and has publications and patents in various fields including astrophysics, nuclear instrumentation, optics, and micro-electromechanical systems.” Their website also gives details about their founder, philosophy, the Buddhist religion and festivals around the world, study programs, special events, and has photo galleries of previous events to view.

Saturday's course is a guide to love and how to allow yourself to be open to it, stating, “Love allows us to see the beauty in everyone and everything. Love starts with intention, and becomes a way of engaging with the world. Loving others is the path to inner peace. Buddhism presents three types of love and provides practical meditations for deepening our experience. We can let go of fault finding, judging, and neediness. We can find greater contentment, joy, and harmony in all of our relationships.”

Dharmachakra Buddhist Center describes itself as, “a Buddhist meditation center in northern New Jersey. We offer instruction in meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice through meditation classes, meditation retreats and special meditation events. Meditation is for everyone, from those who seek relaxation to those who wish to follow the Buddhist spiritual path. We promote the teachings and ideals of Kadampa Buddhism in northern New Jersey.”

Additional classes include: Love and the Supreme Heart with Ed Graham, Simply Meditate with Rob Selwyn, Learning to Believe with Peter Kurczynski, Prayers for World Peace with David Torres, Learing to Meditate and Meditation for Teens with Nagarani Ramasubramaniam.
