I tend to lean on the side of unschooling. I think that term though has quite a few faults and makes people tend to think we sit around all day. This is not the case. We spend a good amount of time on hands on learning and yes our learning does include books, even text or workbooks. I honestly won't categorize myself since that gives people right to judge or comment and such on our style. We just aim to learn that's it.
I tend to let my kids choose the books they learn from, they want to learn math, so we hunt for books or websites that will help them accomplish that. We do much learning by doing. Learning is not bound to a set time of day or number of hours. It has taken me many years of home educating to get to this point and style. What have I learned along the way? Well, basically to always be open to change and grow with your child, through this whole learning at home adventure. One of our hands on projects this week was making laundry detergent.
