Learn to ski or snowboard with specials at Twin Cities ski areas

Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month is almost over, but the opportunities to learn at Twin Cities ski areas are not. All areas still offer lessons for everyone, from novices to skilled riders and skiers who are looking for some help with freestyle moves. Here are some of the choices.

Wild Mountain may have the best option, with its "get hooked" package. It includes three two-hour sessions, rentals, and lift tickets for $99. The schedule extends through March 10.

Welch Village has a similar plan, for $109. Lessons are 90 minutes long. It recommends you make reservations if you're interested in waiting until March.

If you're not sure you want to sign up for 3 lessons, each of those areas has daily options. So does Buck Hill, which has a beginner special (90-minute lesson) for $35.

Afton Alps has a "ski and ride simplified" package. For $99.95, you get three lift tickets (valid after 4:30 p.m. only), three rentals, and three one-hour lessons.

As they say in the industry, humans were not meant to hibernate. Get out there and play!
