Over 153,000 children and adults took beginner lessons last year through the Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month/Bring a Friend (LSSM/BAF) programs. Now in its 6th season, the organizers of LSSM/BAF are gearing up for the 2013-2014 winter season. January is still the official Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month and the program is looking to expand.

What's new for this season? A new logo, updated website content, a revised Ambassadors program, and an enhanced public relations effort are just some of the new things skiers/riders and new participants can expect. The Bring a Friend Challenge and Why I Love to Ski or Ride Video Contest will return for the season.

The Bring a Friend Challenge encourages current skiers and riders to do just that: bring a friend to the slopes and have them take a lesson from a professional instructor. There are great prizes for both new participants and for those skiers and riders who introduce a friend. Bring a Friend Challenge already has a number of motivational prizes from initiative partners including Ski Utah, Topnotch Resort at Stowe, Burton, Head, RAMP and the U.S. Winter Sports Reps Association. More will be added soon. See for more information.

The new logo highlights the word "Learn". This change in the logo helps partners and resorts promote "Learn to" specials and promotions during January or throughout the season.

The Ambassador program includes a youth component called Champions for individuals between the ages of 13 and 17. Motivated and dedicated skiers and snowboarders will have an opportunity to become Ambassadors or Champions. An industry statistic states that 94% of current skiers and riders were introduced by friends and family.

Ski season will be here before we know it; bring a friend, introduce them to the mountain environment, and enter to win some great prizes!
