Longing for a bite of buttercrunch…the tangy zip of endive or the peppery zing of arugula? Wait no more. While pre-packaged mixed leafy greens are available widely at most any grocery store, they are expensive and limited. Growing your own salad greens gives you the freedom to choose whatever ingredients you like for whatever your taste is at the moment. And growing your own salad greens is one of the easiest, most economical and quickest crops to grow.

Thieneman’s is hosting a “Grow Your Own Salad” class this weekend. In the first part of the class, participants will sow seeds of various salad greens in a container garden. The second hour will allow them to taste the various kinds of lettuces and greens with some different herbal dressings. The class will be offered March 5th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The cost is $30. Call Thieneman’s to register at (502) 296-1499.
