Are you or do you want to be a modern-day treasure hunter? Have you thought geocaching sounds interesting and fun, but don’t know much about it or how to get started? River Legacy Parks Living Science Center will give you all the information you need to get started, plus a little bit of hands-on experience at a geocaching workshop being held on Saturday, August 25.
Geocaching 101: An Intro to a Modern Craze starts at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, with a one-hour indoor workshop, and then headz out into the 1,300-acre park for some practical experience, on the hunt for real geocaches.
Instructor Chad Etheridge is well-qualified to facilitate the workshop: he is a “Texas Master Naturalist, NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, and Topographic Map and Navigation Instructor.”
While a small number of GPS units will be available for attendees to use, it’s best to bring your own: either a GPS unit, or smart phone with GPS capabilities. And since it’s a pretty sure bet you’ll love geocaching, if you don’t have the equipment you need already, this workshop would be a great reason to make that purchase!
River Legacy Park is the perfect place to get your feet wet in this addictive activity (not sure if I can call it a sport), that allows players to travel, investigate, and even network with other treasure hunters!
Space is limited in this class, which is designed for people aged 10 or older. RSVP to 817-860-6752. River Legacy Parks is located at 703 N.W. Green Oaks Blvd. in Arlington.
