Learn something new this week-end and transform your thinking

Cincinnati is rich in all kinds of activities for just about everybody. Any day, you are bound to discover something new if you choose to do so. For example, this Thursday, at Christ Church Cathedral on Fourth and Sycamore Streets, the Community Issues Forum presented a new documentary by Bill Moyers, “The United States of ALEC”.

The Community Issues Forum is anchored around Romans 14:19, “Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding” and meets in the cathedral's undercroft every other Thursday at noon from September through May. There is a different topic for every forum and attendance is free.

This Thursday's forum was co-sponsored by Common Cause Ohio and the League of Women Voters of Greater Cincinnati.

But what is ALEC?

Bob Edgar, national president of Common Cause, a former congressman and General Secretary of the National Council of Churches is on the road to promote Bill Moyer's documentary about this group and why everybody ought to be aware of its activities which influence legislation in states – Ohio being one of those affected recently.

“United States of ALEC” airs this week-end on Moyers & Company after it aired on Democracy Now on Thursday.

I started by saying, there is something new to learn and I will conclude with: “See the documentary this week-end”.
