Learn more about wine next year

If one of your new year's resolutions is to learn more about wine this year, Dreadnought Wines, is offering some wine courses. You can take certification classes from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust: Level one and two for wine and level one for spirits. A non-certification Wine 101 class is also being offered

The WSET Level 1 wine class is a two day class on January 11th and January 12th from 1pm-5pm. It teaches basic information on grape varieties, and introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing and basic wine service knowledge. The cost for the class is $199 per prson and includes wines, materials and exam fees.

The WSET Level 2 Wine class is a 7 week class which is taught on Mondays from 6pm-8pm. The classes start on January 13th and go through February 24th. This class covers grape varieties and where they are grown around the world. You will learn how to taste wine professionally using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. This in-depth course is $575 per person and includes wines, materials and exam fees.

The WSET Level 1 Spirits class is a 2 day class taught on February 8th and 9th from 1pm-5pm. You will learn about all of the major spirits of the world and have an introduction to how they are produced. You will also learn about tasting and basic service. The cost for this class is $250 per person and includes tasting samples and materials.

The Wine 101 class is 3 weeks and takes place every Thursday from 6pm-8pm from January 23rd through February 6th. You will learn how to taste wine, read a label and how wines are classified in different countries. You will also learn the flavor characteristics of the five main wine grape varietals. You will also gain knowledge about how climate and soil affects wine by tasting wines from different parts of the world. This class is $99 per person and includes wine and materials.

Dreadnought wines is located in the Strip District and in addition to selling wine and wine gifts, Dreadnought has a classroom used for regular wine tastings, courses and events. If you are interested in signing up for any of Dreadnought's courses you can sign up via their website.
