Learn improv comedy at the Dreamcatcher Rep Theatre

Do you dream of a comedy career on SNL? or just want to entertain at the next bar mitzvah? Artistic Director Laura Ekstrand and The DREAMCATCHER REPERTORY THEATRE, the marvelous professional Theatre in Residence at the Baird Center in South Orange, will offer a new class in Improvisational Comedy for Adults beginning March 10.
The class will be taught by Lulu French, a visiting artist with a long history in the improv world, and will meet for eight sessions, and will include a showcase for the students in the ninth week.  The class is open to students over 18 years of age, and no experience is required.  The improv class offers students of all levels the opportunity to explore their own creativity in a supportive environment, to develop spontaneity and freedom in front of an audience, and to simply have fun.

Lulu French has been improvising for the past fifteen years. She started improv taking classes at Gotham City Improv and has appeared in numerous improv shows at Gotham including the long-running Off the Top of Our Heads.  Lulu taught all levels of improvisation at Gotham for ten years and has directed several of Gotham’s performance ensembles.  Lulu also has taught improv to youths for Broadway Classrooms and CentreStage, and NYU drama students at Stonestreet Studios. She is currently performing at the Magnet Theater performing with Ransom Family, one of the theatre’s long-form improv house teams.  In addition to her study at GCI she has also studied with the Upright Citizens Brigade including Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Matt Walsh (Players), and various other Chicago improv alumni including Todd Stashwick (Heroes).
