When Dragon Age: Inquisition releases later this fall, gamers will be given command over an entire NPC faction. As the head of the Inquisition, players must make decisions on how to best utilize the troops and resources that have been placed under their control. To help make these plans, Bioware’s next entry of the fantasy franchise will give fans access to the base of operations known as Skyhold. Sharing details on the base camp, the developer recently explained what players will be able to do within Skyhold as reported by Gameranx on Aug 1.

While Skyhold will act as a military camp for the Inquisition, the base functions almost like its own township in order to serve the needs of the player as well as the soldiers following the Inquisitor’s lead. Skyhold will have several amenities including its own dungeons, stables, and even a tavern. In many ways, the camp will play a similar role that The Normandy filled within the Mass Effect series by offering gamers a familiar place to interact with the companions.

Also located within the base will be the War Table. This is where players will make their strategic decisions on what actions the Inquisition should take based upon the advice of the faction’s advisors. Additionally, fans will also be able to take special quests from the War Table. Unlike traditional missions, however, players won’t set out to meet these objectives themselves. The Inquisition quests will be complete entirely through menus as players are sending out Inquisition forces to perform the tasks that will reward the faction with currency and other resources.

Like the game’s protagonist, fans will also be given the option to customize the appearance of Skyhold. Bioware is adding a number of cosmetic options to the base that will allow gamers to alter the visuals for banners windows, and even their commander’s throne.
