Columbus Day is celebrated on the second Monday in the United States. Therefore in 2013, the celebration is done on October 14th in America although the actual discovery of the New World was made on October 12 back in 1492.
While many people have been honoring Columbus’ achievements and celebrating Italian-American heritage, Columbus Day has generated controversy. This is because from the view point of original inhabitants in the New World (native Americans called American Indian), their home land and native town were invaded by European people, which was nothing but a tragedy to them in a sense.
As is often the case, history is created by winners and this has been taking place all over the world.. So the controversial argument often occurs from time to time not only regarding Columbus Day celebration but also regarding some other histories in the world.
Apart from the issue of controversy, people who celebrate Columbus’s achievement on Columbus Day often hold a party, ceremony or some other events to honor Christopher Columbus’s achievements. If you are an event planner or one of attendees to the ceremony or party, you need to think about how to decorate the event. If you have a skill of floral arranging, you can make floral decorations for the ceremony or party by making the best use of your talent as a floral designer.
If you are a florist or running a floral shop, you can sell floral arrangements featuring Columbus Day celebration. Although there are no clear rules about what kind of floral arrangement should be displayed on this holiday, the popular one is table arrangements(or centerpiece decorations) and bouquets which can be often found on the website of online flower shop advertising for Columbus Day floral decorations. Or if the party or event is held at a spacious event room, it is recommended to display a large scale floral arrangement like the one displayed at an entrance hall of a hotel etc.
