Leanne Bearden: Traveler's body found less than mile from home, suicide thought

Leanne Bearden has been not been seen since her husband reported her missing back on Jan. 17, 2014. She apparently went for a walk and didn't come back to her home just outside of San Antonio, Texas. Two weeks later, it was reported that her family thought she may have wanted to disappear. On Feb. 14, 2014, KENS5 reported that Bearden's body has been found just less than a mile from her home.

Preliminary autopsy reports show that Leanne Bearden likely died from suicide due to asphyxiation by hanging. Police have officially ruled her death a suicide, pending toxicology reports.

Her body was found on Thursday, and the police had issued a statement at the time.

"Dispatch received a 911 call from a citizen stating a body had been observed in a wooded area near his home in Garden Ridge, [Texas]," says Police Chief Donna O'Conner in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. "We will reserve any information regarding the cause of death until an autopsy has been performed."

33-year-old Leanne Bearden was thought to be coming back less than an hour after she left for a walk because of a phone interview with a job prospect. Her husband, 39-year-old Josh, was worried about his bride of nearly five years because not returning was "totally unlike her."

The police have now asked for privacy and respect for the Bearden family as they have "time to process and reflect on the tragedy."

A man had found Leanne Bearden's body early Thursday afternoon in a wooded area behind his home. Witnesses said she was found hanging from a tree.
