The city of Mobile has many women fire fighters working on the trucks and in other areas of the fire department where they have excelled and their job descriptions changed.
 

Leann Tacon one of the first female fire fighters that has worked her way from an entry level fire fighter private to become a district chief. Leann was recently promoted to district chief with the effective date being April 11, 2009. Leann was also the first female to be hired by the department in 1987. Leann has been on the fire department for twenty two years now and has worked in many fields in the fire service before being promoted to a district fire chief.
 

Leann became the first female fire fighter in Mobile and is an example that women can do anything if they train and study hard to reach whatever goal they have in life. 

District chief Leann Tacon is respected and honored by the men and women that serve under her command.
