LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian on their romance: "We just click"

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's relationship may not have started at the best time, but according to them, it works.

When they met, Rimes and Cibrian were both married, but now, years later and after two divorces, they are living happily ever after -- and documenting their every move on their new VH1 reality series, "LeAnn & Eddie."

"People are always wanting to make it a story of me being a homewrecker and trying to take someone's kids," Rimes told PEOPLE Magazine on July 31. "They take the love I have for my family and twist it around in some weird, sick way."

Rimes and Cibrian began dating in 2009 when Rimes was married to Dean Shermet and Rimes was married to Brandi Glanville, of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." During the highly-publicised affair, Rimes was labeled a home wrecker and Glanville slammed her for ripping her family apart.

"The biggest global misconception would be that we're not two people who are really in love with each other, that there are ulterior motives to our relationship," says Cibrian, 41. "But people just don't get it. Hopefully people will get a chance to see how we just click."

On their show, Rimes and Cibrian take fans inside their relationship and home-life, which they hope will help their fans understand them more and get to see their love for what it really is. However, because of a court-order from the custody of Cibrian's kids with Glanville, Mason and Jake, the boys are not seen on the show.

"LeAnn & Eddie" airs on Thursday nights at 10:30 p.m. on VH1.
