Leaked screenshots show Samsung smartwatch may be coming

Watches are hot right now, and I don't even see many people wearing them.

Since we all now carry a mobile phone with us, many people don't fell the need to carry a watch to check the time.

That hasn't stopped electronics manufacturers from developing prototype after prototype of smartwatches, and trying to get something to market as quickly as possible.

Apple fans can't get enough about iWatch rumors, and I tend to think Apple will debut a a smartwatch sometime in the fall of 2013.

The Cookoo watch, which pairs with your iPhone and is a very attractive device has been selling like crazy.

Similarly, the much ballyhooed Pebble Watch connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, alerting you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages. The Pebble Watch was a Kickstarter project that has come to fruition.

Now Samsung fans might have something to cheer about.

Mobot.net is reporting that Samsung might be on the verge or releasing a smartwatch called the Altius.

Some screenshots have leaked which may be the Altius, and the OS is tiled similar to Windows 8.

Resolution appears to be 500 X 500 and it should work nicely for looking at pictures, maps and running some apps.

No word on what the price is or will be and when it might debut in North America.

One thing for sure, there will be a slew of smartwatches released in 2013.
