It seems that as the liberals pet apocalypse of global warming fades out of interest, the more, well, apocalyptic the news gets and in turn more phony.
Associated Press is trying its damnedest to revive interest: Report:Warming likely to make bad things worse. It’s one of many rallying cries for the world to repent and hoist up those ghastly solar panels and to shiver in the dark so that we may “save the world”.
Many of the ills of the modern world — starvation, poverty, flooding, heat waves, droughts, war and disease — are likely to worsen as the world warms from man-made climate change, a leaked draft of an international scientific report forecasts.
The report uses the word "exacerbate" repeatedly to describe warming's effect on poverty, lack of water, disease and even the causes of war.
It was all going to be a secret until March when the full report comes out. But it was “leaked”. Was it a nefarious leak? Was anyone upset over the this? That it was put to press before the March release gives it cache of importance. This is the kind of phoniness, I for one, would expect. In fact I was counting on it.
You would think (the AP is counting on you not to, and for the most part a lot of you won’t) that they would describe just how “warming” would translate into all these bad things. The article just states these things will happen without explaining why. Here is the list of the awfulness warming will cause:
—Famine because of temperature and rain changes, especially for poorer nations.
—Farmers going broke because of lack of water.
—Infrastructure failures because of extreme weather.
—Dangerous and deadly heat waves worsening.
—Certain land and marine ecosystems failing.
The leaked report from the “international community” knows just how to pull the tear strings amongst the morally vain (code word for liberals) by focusing on class, they say "Cities, where most of the world now lives, have the highest vulnerability, as do the globe's poorest people."
Duhhhh! it is after all “global” warming. If most of he world lived in rural areas, you know what, they would still experience the “highest vulnerability” because it’s the entire planet were talking about. There’s no escaping it, right?
"Throughout the 21st century, climate change impacts will slow down economic growth and poverty reduction, further erode food security and trigger new poverty traps, the latter particularly in urban areas and emerging hotspots of hunger," the report says. "Climate change will exacerbate poverty in low- and lower-middle income countries and create new poverty pockets in upper-middle to high-income countries with increasing inequality."
I hate repeating this but the warming we’re talking about has “paused” in the last 15 years. The “intergovernmental panel on climate” whatever the heck they call themselves, are at odds to explain it and even suggest ignoring it. The point is, over the last 15 years, how’s the economy doing? Being a climate scientist is one thing. Are they now economists too? Is it really really really possible to determine that a “poverty pocket” will spring up in “upper-middle to high-income countries with increasing [oh my, don’t say it, don’t say it] inequality”? Are they Realtors as well?
See, if we don’t do something about this, those poor people across town? Say hello to your new neighbors. Are you scared yet?
More frightening scenarios:
None of the harms talked about in the report is solely due to global warming nor is climate change even the No. 1 cause, the scientists say. But a warmer world, with bursts of heavy rain and prolonged drought, will worsen some of these existing effects, they say.
Come on guys. Will warming make it rain more or will cause drought? If global warming is not the “No. 1“ cause of any of this, then why does it get top billing? What else are they talking about in this leaked report? See, this is what I mean by phony.
