Leah Remini made a much-publicized exit from Scientology, and it has cost her many friends within the religion. Members are now no longer allowed to even talk to her. According to a Sept. 10 article on LATimes.com, Remini appeared on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" where she explained that she left the controlling religion because she didn't want anyone telling her how to think or who she can or cannot talk to.
Remini and her family left Scientology after their “eyes opened.” They just felt they could no longer be affiliated with the organization. Remini's mother became involved when the children were younger, so this type of lifestyle, under the control of Scientology, is all that she ever knew. The friends that she has lost were basically life-long friends with whom she can now have no interaction.
Recently Remini made a missing person's report for the wife of the group's leader, David Miscavige. Shelly Miscavige, a friend of hers, had not been seen in public for six years. Speculation that she was being held in a facility against her will led the star of "King of Queens" to file a report. Upon seeing Miscavige, police ended the search.
