Leah Remini on Scientology: 'Everything the Church taught me was a lie'

Leah Remini is not popular on the Scientology front. In fact, after giving an interview to BuzzFeed on Feb. 26 talking about her former faith, the actress said, "Everything the Church taught me was a lie."

Remini said she wasn't trying "to bash anybody" nor was she "trying to be controversial."She just wanted to "tell the truth" about the religion she was part of since she was a little girl.

Now the Church of Scientology is fighting back.

On Feb. 28, People reported that her interview sparked the Church to respond to Leah's accusations by calling them "absurd" and "insulting."

Scientology spokesperson Karin Pouw said in a statement to People that Leah Remini was "rewriting her [own] history" through what this Scientology member called "a publicity stunt."

Pouw said that Remini omitted a lot in her BuzzFeed interview, like that "she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice." The Scientology representation said Leah "was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses."

And so the back and forth continues with Leah Remini claiming her years with Scientology as a faith were years that taught her lies and Scientology saying Remini's comments were "absurd."

Stay tuned for a rebuttal from the actress who will probably have more to say about the Church after Scientology.
