Leah Calvert's ex-husband, Corey Simms, is warming up to the idea of their daughter, Ali, needing a wheelchair. However, while Calvert is glad to see him more accepting of her diagnosis, she isn't completely happy with him.
In a clip from Wednesday night's "Teen Mom 2," via an Aug. 20 report by Hollywood Life, Calvert is seen chatting with her ex-husband, who has just requested to take Ali's wheelchair with him on a visit to the zoo. "If she needs it to save her energy, that's fine. I just don't want her to be dependent on it," Simms explained.
Later on in the conversation, Calvert wanted to know what was going on with Ali's insurance claim for a new wheelchair. In response to Calvert's question, Simms revealed he had called them "the other day" but hadn't yet heard back. Unfortunately for him, that doesn't appear to be a good enough answer for Calvert, who wants to know more. Still, Simms insists he's keeping up with the plan and will let her know as soon as he hears something.
After the pair get off the phone, Calvert goes inside and begins venting to Jeremy about Simms' failure to take their daughter's needs seriously. Once she informs Jeremy that Simms would like to use Ali's wheelchair during their visit to the zoo, Jeremy accuses Simms of not taking Ali's condition serious enough. According to Jeremy, Simms should be staying on top on his insurance, demanding something be done about Ali's wheelchair needs.
Although the current episodes of "Teen Mom 2" season 5B were filmed several weeks ago, it doesn't appear that much has changed when it comes to Simms' insurance claim for Ali. In a series of recent tweets from Calvert, via Hollywood Life, she revealed Ali is still in her same chair, but told fans that she and her family remain hopeful that they will soon get her the chair she needs.
