League of Legends' Season 3 Items (Part 1)

League of Legends has received some heavy changes since the last Fort Worth, Texas update. The current focus will be on a few of the very many items that have been added with the season three patch. Many items have been added, reworked, removed, or have had their mechanics/cost tweaked.

Hunter's Machete:

  • Unique Passive – Butcher: Damage dealt to monsters increased by 10%
  • Unique Passive – Rend: Basic attacks deal 10 bonus true damage to monsters.
  • Hunter's Machete is the new go-to item for junglers. This item costs 300 gold and leaves the jungler with enough gold to grab at least five health potions. By itself it is a pretty decent item, but the main purpose of Hunter's Machete comes from the four bigger items it builds into.

Madred's Razors:

  • +25 Armor
  • Unique Passive – Maim: Your basic attacks against minions and monsters have a 25% chance to deal 300 bonus magic damage.
  • Unique Passive – Rend: Basic attacks deal 10 bonus true damage to monsters.

Madred's Razors now grants slightly more armor than before, but no longer grants attack damage. Madred's now only requires 700 (Cloth Armor + Hunter's Machete + Madred's Razors recipe price) gold instead of 1000. Although the jungle is more difficult than it used to be, being able to grab Madred's Razors earlier can help you clear the jungle faster. This item no longer builds into Madred's Bloodrazor, which has been removed from the game.

Wriggle's Lantern:

  • +15 Attack Damage
  • +30 Armor
  • +10% Life Steal
  • Unique Passive – Maim: Your basic attacks against minions and monsters have a 25% chance to deal 500 bonus magic damage.
  • Unique Active: Places an invisible Sight Ward that reveals the surrounding area for three minutes (three minute cooldown).

Wriggle's Lantern hasn't received too many adjustments with the new season. The overall cost has been reduced by 50 gold, the attack damage and life steal have been slightly reduced, but the bonus magic damage has been increased from 425 to 500.

In an attempt to help Fort Worth League of Legends players catch up with the item changes, the following updates will include coverage of the many more items! As always, Riot Games is urging players to provide feedback on the changes to allow them to fine-tune the game as best as possible.
