League of Legends Mac client download is now available

The League of Legends Mac client is now available for beta download. The popular game was first introduced for Windows PC's back in 2009, but now appears to be available with all of the same aspects of the PC on the Mac version.

According to a March 1 report from Mac Rumors, the game can be downloaded directly for anyone who already has an account, such as those who played on a PC and want to use the game on the Mac. New Mac users who are new to the game will have to create a brand new account to download League of Legends.

A news post at the League of Legends website states of the Mac version:

"The Mac client does everything that the PC client does, meaning you’ll get all future features, bug fixes and new content on the same schedule as PC players, but on your native OS. The Cross-Platform team will also continue working diligently to smash any Mac bugs that surface during the open beta."

The popular game draws inspiration from Warcraft III map "Defense of the Ancients" and features either 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 battles, with gamers controlling just one player. The game allows for a choice of different characters that can be used on a weekly basis.

Additionally, the game has garnered a big league of fans competing for millions of dollars in prizes. The game was developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows, with an original release date of Oct. 27, 2009.
