League of Legends: A great free to play game

Gamers are abundant around DeKalb and especially within the student body of Northern Illinois University. As with most college students those at Northern are not usually rolling in the dough. This can make it tough to keep up with new game releases. Many have found a loophole in free to play online games, one of the most popular being League of Legends.

This free to play multiplayer capture the base game that has become one of the most played games in the world. Riot games released this gaming juggernaut in 2009 and now it has a huge following. The numbers gathered about those who play the game are staggering. There are more than 70 million accounts registered for play with more than 30 million playing every month and 12 million playing daily.

The people who play this game are from countries all over the world. More than 60 percent currently attend college or have previously graduated. The game is played more than Halo and Call of Duty and as of now is the most played game in the world.

Riot Games has taken this game to the next level by listening to the community that plays it. Anyone who plays can tell you that Riot constantly updates the game based upon the feedback they get from players. They change the gameplay and characters when people complain and if something is working well, they leave it alone. One thing I know gamers hate is something they love getting changed for no reason. The only thing they hate more is something they cannot stand being ignored by those who can change it. Riot has balanced these things well.

Overall, League of Legends is perfect for anyone looking to save some money while still getting a high quality gaming experience.
