Earlier today the Maple Leafs announced their roster of 25 players who will participate in the 2013 Rookie Tournament hosted by the Leafs. This year’s tournament will be held in London, Ontario at the Budweiser Gardens beginning on September 5th.
All eyes will be on Leafs defencemen Morgan Rielly (selected 5th overall, 2012 NHL Entry Draft) who will be trying to crack the NHL roster this season. Other big-name participating prospects include: D Petter Granberg, D Stuart Percy, F Tyler Biggs, F Greg McKegg, and F Brad Ross.
Four of Toronto’s draft picks from 2013 will participate in the tournament as well: Frederik Gautheir (21st overall), Carter Verhaeghe (82nd overall), Fabrice Herzog (142nd overall) and Antoine Bibeau (172nd overall).
New Toronto Marlies head coach Steve Spott will man the bench along with his assistant coaches Gord Dineen and Derek King. Spott is gearing up for his first season as the Marlies head coach after Dallas Eakins vacated the position in favour of a head-coaching gig with the Edmonton Oilers.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Budweiser Gardens Box Office, Masonville Place Ticket Outlet, Fanshawe College BizBooth, The Bookstore at Western University, and Books Plus. You can also purchase tickets by calling (866) 455-2849 or by visiting www.budweisergardens.com.
