Leads sought following discovery of dog who was shot in the head

Police in Warner Robins, Ga., are searching for leads in a disturbing case of animal cruelty following the discovery of a female pit bull who had been fatally shot, reported The Telegraph.

According to an August 5 press release from the Warner Robins Police Department, on the morning of Friday, July 25, 2014 officer Smith observed a dead dog within the city limits. The deceased dog, described as a gray and white female pit bull who appeared to have recently had puppies, had been shot in the head.

Surveillance images from nearby security cameras have been released and they show three men exiting a red, four-door Chevrolet sedan with the pit bull. One of the men, who is smoking a cigarette and wearing a red, white and blue tank top, and what appears to be baggy, dark-colored jeans, is holding a gun.

In one of the images, the gun is in the man's right hand and the dog is secured in his left hand.

According to the release, the man holding the gun is wanted for Animal Cruelty charges. Anyone with information about this man or this incident, is asked to call Officer Smith with the Warner Robins Police Department at (478) 302-5392.

Requests for information on this case of animal cruelty are making their way through social media and even to area residents via an ad on Craigslist.
