Leading food allergy and asthma foundations to merge in February 2013

One of the most useful websites for information on childhood food allergies is joining with a leading website for asthma and allergy information. KFA and AAFA just announced plans to merge. It's a good day for those with allergies!

Since 1998, Kids with Food Allergies Foundation (KFA) has been providing parents of food allergic children with support and education. The foundation offers online education, peer support, food and cooking assitance, and outreach programs to the food allergy community. Complete with a Medical Advisory Team, KFA has been a trusted source of information for years.

Combine this specialized resource with a broader organization focused on allergies and asthma, and you will have a winning team. The Allergy and Asthma Foundation (AAFA) is the leading patient organization for people with asthma and allergies, and the oldest asthma and allergy patient group in the world. This non-profit organization has been sharing educating and supporting the allergy and asthma community since 1953. AAFA has support groups around the United States organized by need and age. It's exciting to have an organization that has combined information on allergies and asthma to join with a leader in the food allergy community. It is well known that asthma can increase the chance of a severe reaction in a person with food allergies. These diseases are often found residing together and are volatile. By combining KFA with AAFA, asthma and allergy resources for parents will marry and provide them with a more complete picture of each disease.

In 2012 the Board of Directors for AAFA and KFA organization each voted unanimously to approve a merger and filings in two states have been submitted for regulatory review, now partly approved, with final word anticipated this month. (AAFA source)

According to the announcement by AAFA quoted above, we can look forward to the merger yet this month.
