Some precious platinum was missing. It was a great deal of money. The special UPS conditions were met, or so they said. The package had been delivered and opened as per the instructions. And yet, the platinum was nowhere to be found.
The staff got into looking for it. Not just the shipping department; marketing, sales, research, jewelry design. Everyone looked under desks, into dark corners, in the small kitchen where the coffee and Danish were kept.
Security began to question just about everyone.
Bets were being placed on who took it. Karen, the president of the company, had gone to the other side of the country for an important meeting. Tony, who was ready to be fired, took the helm and finally showed leadership skills that had been latent for so long.
It was impossible to squelch the rumors.
It took some time for the truth to come out. It was that new guy, that soft spoken, really smart man who came in to make the shipping department the best in the country.
It looked impossible. He seemed so honest and trustworthy. No matter, he did it and it’s now in the hands of the law.
What is amazing is the timing. One week later and Tony would have been the one gone. Now he was a hero.
He found his GUTSY (or maybe BALLSY) side and came through when the going got rough.
Sometimes fate really does come in to make things right.
Now it is time for the President to figure out how to do a better job of hiring the right people.
