Leadership Atlanta has been selecting Atlanta's brightest to represent it's core values for over forty years. On last Monday, the organization closed its selection process for the 2014 class. What makes this organization so special from all of the other professional development nonprofit organizations in the city of Atlanta.
Leadership Atlanta (Atlanta Leadership Development Foundation, Inc.) is the oldest sustained community program of its type in the country. Nationally, there are more than 1,000 leadership development programs in the United States, many of which were modeled after Leadership Atlanta.
The mission of Leadership Atlanta is to build a better community for everyone in the Atlanta region through education about the key issues facing the region and inspiring members and others to take on and exercise real leadership committed to serving the common good.
Leadership Programs
The Leadership Atlanta Program
The core of Leadership Atlanta's programming is a signature nine-month, executive-level series. Seventy-five established leaders are chosen each year to represent a broad cross-section of metro Atlanta. Through retreats, full-day seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours, members explore critical community issues, examine themselves as leaders and build relationships of trust and mutual understanding.
Alumni Membership Programs and Services
The Leadership Atlanta experience does not end at graduation. For alumni, the program offers an extensive calendar of alumni programming each year, allowing graduates to remain connected and informed through topical forums, dialogues and social gatherings. In addition, alumni form committees that plan each year's class program and alumni events.
LEAD Atlanta
In 2004, Leadership Atlanta founded LEAD Atlanta, an initiative for emerging leaders. LEAD is designed for young professionals between the ages of 25 and 32. Through personal and professional development and broad exposure to the community, LEAD Atlanta aims to equip young leaders early in their careers with the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective leader committed to the common good. LEAD Atlanta boasts a diverse roster of accomplished alumni. These young leaders, and all who follow their example, represent the next generation of metro Atlanta
