This week was all about the stupid stereotypes we live with and often don’t even question; they represent a prison that we all live in. All we need to do is push the doors open; they've never been locked.
Here's what we need to do once we get out of jail and are ready to move on to new and invigorating journeys:
- Specifics Stop Stereotyping: No more generalizations and cliches! Instead, let’s move toward gender-neutral ways of looking at leadership. ALL leaders need to know and do this, as visionaries, mentors and integrators to get to the goals.
- Style is Neither Male nor Female: Leaders who want to help their employees grow can be introverts, extroverts or 'middle-verts' and get the job done; they just need to meet people where they are and help them flourish.
- Situations Shift: Adaptability and flexibility are neither male nor female; they are high-level human attributes that are needed more than ever to make work, work best. When we find new ways to take the essences of diversity into our personal lives and look at each human being for their strengths and uniqueness, we become stronger. This is the kind of research that will forward who we are…..after all, this country was built on a melting pot of glorious differences. Let’s get GUTSY and revive the idea that we are all in this together and no one wins unless we all do.
